The Truth About Curls – GIVEAWAY!

One question I get all the time is, “Do you know how to work with curly hair?” The answer is YES but it’s true that cutting, coloring, and styling curly hair often requires different techniques, products, and tools. I know that many of my clients would love to wear their hair curly but they just aren’t sure how to get the results they want.

To address the specific needs of curly hair, Paul Mitchell has just launched a brand new curl line. In tandem with the launch, Pin Curls Salon will be hosting a “Curls Night Out” this Thursday evening from 6 PM to 9 PM. Come by to enjoy wine and hors d’oeurves while you sample the new products and learn a few curly hair styling tips and tricks. The Pin Curls stylists, including myself, will be on hand to show you how to properly diffuse your hair, how to enhance your curls using curling irons, and create vintage looks.

It’s going to be fun but if you need even more incentive to attend, we will be raffling off one complete set of the new Paul Mitchell Curls line. This set includes one full size of each of the following: Spring Loaded Detangling Shampoo, Full Circle Leave-in Treatment, Ultimate Wave Beachy Texture Cream-Gel, and Twirl Around Crunch-Free Curl Definer.

Don’t live in Chicago? Don’t fret. I’m giving away another TWO full sets here on Parlor. All you need to do is leave a comment on this or any post any time in the next two weeks. Tell me what you like or dislike about your curls, ask questions, or let me know what you’d like to learn about here on Parlor. The winners will be announced on Tuesday, September 18. Good luck!

I love my curls! I can do waves, curls or straight! I still haven’t found the perfect frizz protection yet! Booo.

  2. Kayla says:

I love my curls! However they have a mind of their own which can be tricky! My hair is getting way too long for my liking but I can’t seem to find a haircut I love.

  3. Alma says:

I love my curls…most of the time. I feel like caring for them and finding the perfect products is a something of lifelong quest, so I’d love to try the new PM products.

  4. Kayla S says:

I love my curls , I really do but sometimes there toooo much to handle. They can get tangled easily and I swear the BEG for moisture. I could you black castor oil and in two days all of it is GONE lol. hmmm I love that my curls are so different and unique. I especially like the fact that i can do so much more things with my hair being curled.

  5. Jenny says:

I love/hate my curls. I hate them because they are the direct outcome of my years of med school stress – hair literally went from flat stick-straight to BOING curly after i started! And it’s not fully curly, just half my head; the other half is only sort of wavy. ACK! BUT, it definitely adds body to once limp hair. The catch: I have all of 2 minutes to myself to get ready for work in the morning, with baby crying and toddler pulling on my leg – what’s an easy way to wash and style and go with a half head of curly hair???

  6. Meg says:

I have a love/hate relationship with my curls. Given time to develop and dry on their own, they’re lovely, if a little flat on top. But in my new job, I am in front of people from the minute I walk in the door, so I’m stuck either getting up HOURS in advance or using the dryer. I’ve yet to find a product/dryer combo that leaves my curls looking the way I like, so I may be doomed to a term of straightening/pulling back until I do.

I haven’t been able to find the right size of curling iron. I have a weird frizz curl in party of my hair, I can’t get them to look just right. I also have a hard time trying to keep the curl in all day. It seems after a couple hours it falls flat. I would love to try the new paul mithchell line~

  8. Jen Martensen says:

I am really really hoping I can make this event! Coordinating with the hubby. My challenge is that I have a TON of thick hair with strong natural curl. My curls do their own thing, but I need cuts that reduce thickness so it doesn’t all just become a curtain of heavy hair, and products that can give me volume without frizz. My curls are happiest when I let them air dry, but it takes forever, especially in winter. I also color my hair, to fight the grey, so I often have a hard time choosing between color-specific products and curl-specific products.

  9. Ana Overstreet says:

I might be the only one in the world but I love my curls! You definitely have to have a great salon behind you though. Not everyone can cut the curls! And product is key! I love trying out new curl products!

  10. Ashley Derry says:

I like having curly hair, mine just tends to turn into frizz pretty quickly. I also don’t have enough time to style it the way I should so most days my hair is up in a quick bun.

  11. Christina Raguso says:

I always wear my hair curly, I wash and air dry. I have used every curl cream, gel, mousse, spray, etc. etc. Some work well, some don’t work at all. The consistent problem is frizzy hair and fly away curls instead of neat formed spirals, which is what my hair does naturally. So on most days, my hair is braided into 2 tight french braids to keep it off of my face and tame it.
