Q & A Moisturizing Masks

Question: Hey any suggestions for a moisturizing mask? Also I have long curly hair and wonder if you suggest using a product with heat protection or just a leave in conditioner before using a curling iron?

Answer: Yes! I recommended two masks in this post about combating winter dryness. I definitely stand by those choices — Loreal Professional’s Intense Repair Cuti Liss System Intense Nutrition Masque for Dry Hair or Moroccan Oil’s Intense Hydrating Mask. I would also add that Spring is a great time to receive and in-salon treatment. After a long, hard winter, your hair deserves a little pampering.

If your hair is severely damaged, Loreal Professional has an amazing new product called Fiberceutic. It contains a water-activated molecule called Intra-cylane that is able to trap moisture in the hair. I was told by one of Jo Blackwell-Preston’s employees (who had incredible silver-blond hair, btw) that this product should only be used on hair that is really broken and fragile. If that’s you, this product may change your life. There is an in-salon treatment in the line, as well as an at-home mask to follow up.

Regarding the second part of your question, I would most definitely use a heat protection product before curling your hair. While curling irons are slightly less damaging than flat irons, it’s still an iron, and it’s still hot.

Love this! Thanks so much. I’m googling where I can get the products now. Does your salon carry them?

    Yes, we do carry them.
